Chris' SOG session. 6-player Call My Bluff, 6-player Great Brain Robbery, 4-player Settlers of Catan: the Cities and Knights of Catan.
Players were Ralph, Mark, Don, Chip, Chris, myself. Don was a new player to the game. Chris had the first turn.
We spent 5 minutes going over the rules.
A quick game of Call my Bluff to get us started. Mark came in arrogantly, saying he could predict the numbers properly and got it right the first time he was called. Don surprised us, being the new player, by calling people at many of the right times. But it was Chip who pulled the standard trick of winning at the end of the game.

Mark pushed the Great Brain Robbery, convincing everyone it would be a 20 minute game. A common tactic to get players to play a long game against their wills. :-)
Nothing surprising here. Players collected brains, tossing expensive ones early on. Once the engine was placed, everyone ganged up on the leader. After all the fighting and lost brains, Lewis installed a brain with IQ 10, hit the brake and won.

The Cities and Knights of Catan is an expansion to The Settlers of Catan. Here's what it adds: commodities that a city will produce in addition to a resource, an extra die that shows if a role gets an extra progress card or if the barbarians advance toward catan, roles that can be bought with commodities, and knights that can defend a city.
Here are interesting things that happened during the game. Don grabbed the longest road, but I grabbed it from him and kept it for the longest time. Mark played a progress card to replace Lewis' knight with his own. Lewis played a progress card to take a progress card from Mark, which gave him the card he needed to replace Mark's knight with his own again. My city was razed by barbarians, reducing it to a settlement. (Ouch!) Mark created the first metropolis, the secured it. Mark then grabbed the longest road for the win.
