La Guerre des Moutons

Players were Mark, myself. Mark had the first turn.

This was an intense game with Mark. I felt, twice, that I should just confidently call the game with two corrals of eight sheep and one wolfed corral of twelve, to his one corral of two, and another potentially wolfed corral. But it's wise to play the game to the end, as more tiles come out.

I ended up deciding to build up Mark's corral, hoping he wouldn't be able to close it. I played a potentially poor tile in the forest which Mark followed up on to close his large field, to make sure I couldn't play a wolf. But I was able to follow up on that play, then add the wolf. Yea, I had another wolf, and about three hunters, so I was confident I could outmaneuver him. I ended up saving the twelve sheep corral, too!

For such a simple game, I ended up playing a tense and exciting game, and the victory felt deserved.

It seemed like everyone ganged up on me (for suggesting the game in the first place?!?!)

Actually, Chris seemed to shine in this game, cutting people off from expansion wherever possible. He even kept a safe area for himself to grow in.

Mark didn't get rid of his big pieces fast enough.

In the end, Chris won by a fair margin.

Perudo

Players were Chris, Mark, Josh, myself. Mark had the first turn.

Chris decided to call my bluff three times. Twice, I had it exactly right, and everyone lost one die each time. The third time, I bluffed way off, and was the first to drop out.

Mark with two dice, and Chris with one, Chris called Mark and found that Mark was exactly right.

I thought I had the game figured out, and modestly incremented my score, keeping all the colors roughly the same. I snickered when the other players whole-heartedly declared, "I am a genius," while I was easily beating their lowest scores.

Then, at the end, it became obvious that I would be losing. Mike had nearly maxed out all his scores, and Josh was close behind him.

Doh! I misjudged how this game would go. But, next time...

Game lasted 40 minutes.

This game almost had me excited because I enjoy a game of deduction, aka Master Mind. That excitement was dashed when Josh told me that I'm not allowed to record anything. It's a memory game!?!? Given how bad my memory is, I settled on playing without putting my heart into it.

I ended up hiring employees who were obviously not working for anyone else, and accusing two (out of a potential ten) when I was positive that other players accused the same correctly.

I was able to put a Prefecture into play right off the bat, and the extra card gave me a huge advantage. I was building very often. In the end, I only had two production buildings. I even had a Library (which let me do my privilege twice) but sometimes forgot to invoke it!

Josh had four production buildings, and Mike had a silver mine, but I don't think the production, trading cycle happened fast enough for them, compared to my extra card every turn. Anyways, I was producing and trading in addition!

Overall, this game seemed light and luck-of-the-draw driven.

Game lasted 38 minutes.
