We played three games of Sky Bridge to warm up while waiting for Andy to arrive.
Tom sat out the third game so that he could go off and start a four player game of Marvel Heroes. They all played that for the first time and it looked like a struggle to grasp the rules.
I have to admit, I don't get the game yet, but everyone else got it less so I won that one. But then people started catching on.
I think the key is to lay a bridge as soon as possible, or you'll miss the chance later on as buildings get to be odd shapes and too tall to add a roof.

ShaunG got this game and was able to manipulate wars and migrations to good effect. I was behind, except that I was able to set myself up in case Richard drew an Epoch tile to end the game before ShaunG had a chance to use his scoring token.
Luckily, that happened and ShaunG and I ended up sharing the victory.
Game lasted 65 minutes.

ShaunG was eager to play this game.
I ended up with a lucky with hand which let me go out fairly quickly with a difficult goal -- run of nine. This caught most players off guard with lots of points in hand.
I found runs were easy to get, but sets were hard, and I started to falter when sets were the only thing left as my goals.
ShaunG called the game before we were finished because it was getting late, and Melinda had to leave.

We negotiated a bit about what to play next. Andy decided on Carcassonne and I agreed. Though I wanted to try all the expansions, we thought it would be too much with new players.
The game was very close until the end. Even ShaunG who was behind most of the game had some cities that would complete for a lot of points.
We were competing for a huge lucrative farm, and I was shut out of it, until close to the end of the game when a couple my lone farmers connected to the huge farm. Even with my excitement at that moment, people acted surprised at the end of the game when I outnumbered everyone's farmers.
Game lasted 100 minutes.
