Gift Trap is a social game.
Each player has grid markers in his own color. Gift ideas are laid out in a central grid from decks of different values.
Players simultaneously, but secretly, give out gifts to all the other players. Each player may only give out each gift once, based on what the player thinks the other players would like.
Then all players secretly pick the gifts they'd like to get, rating them: Great, Good, OK, No Way.
Then, one at a time, players reveal their desired gifts, and which gifts were given to them by each player. This kicks off a novel way of scoring on the scoring track.
The scoring track is made up of two tracks: one for giving, and one for getting. If the giver gave what the receiver wanted, the giver's token goes up the giver track, and the receiver's token goes up the receiver track by the same number. Otherwise, both token go down the track.
Play continues until both tokens of a single player reaches the target "gifted" space. If he is there at the end of the round, he wins.
The game has a high production value, with opened and wrapped gift tokens for each player, a plastic mesh bag with a draw string to hold each player's components, thick stock grid cards and want tokens, thick card board game board, and thin card stock gift cards with photographs of various gifts.
This is a fun game for people who know each other, or who want to get to know each other.
