Phoenix is a two-player puzzle game.
A row of colored cubes is in the middle of the game board. Each player has his own row of colored pawns. These are all randomly set up at the beginning of each round.
Each player is dealt a hand of cards. These cards allow a player to shift pawns or cubes. A turn consists of playing a card, performing the action on the card, then drawing a card.
The game ends when a player has arranged his pawns so that the colors appear in the same order as the cubes. Scoring occurs for having the adjacent runs of pawns and for having all pawns of the same colors as the cubes.
The winner is the highest score.
The production value is high. The game board is thick card board. The pawns and cubes are wooden. The card is average card stock. The artwork is colorful.
