I'm pleased to announce that I have moved to a new apartment, to be in a nicer neighborhood closer to my new job.
The viaduct drew me here as a wonderous architectural marvel!

It warms my heart when agencies stick it to companies off-shoring work! Here's a Rochester (my former hometown) example!
"The ferry people can complain, but if they had built that ferry in the United States ... it wouldn't have required a registered pilot on board [costing significantly extra money]," said Capt. Roger Paulus, president of the [St. Lawrence Seaway Pilots'] association.

And here's an Accenture example!
The Republican-controlled committee voted 35-16 in favor of a budget amendment that would prohibit contracts between the Homeland Security Department and corporations based abroad and prevent an overseas company already under a government contract from receiving additional ones.

I'm fascinated by old things and ruins. Once, something was very important to invest in creating it. Then, it becomes unimportant and abandoned. Here's a cool link containing photographs of ruins.
While we're at it, how about this link: Infiltration A zine about going places you're not supposed to go. After all, modern ruins tend to be restricted (which is what makes them even more attractive!)
Here's a question I'd like to put out to you (anybody in the general public
reading this):
There is so much violence depicted in the media (both news and fiction)
in America. Yet there is a great deal of violence in Iraq where I presume
the media is greatly censored. So much is not secured and could easily be
brought down in America, yet there are generally no problems. However, in
Iraq, security is very high and there are a lot of problems. Why is that?
I updated my web page for Playing UK Region 2 DVD's and UK PAL Video Cassette Tapes on American Systems. This mainly updates links and deletes old information.
I just got a Linux LiveCD working on my Windows machine.
I'm excited because I went through a lot of grueling testing of different distributions before finding one that worked for me. Most important was Internet connectivity (telnet, ftp, browser, and even Windows network) and development tools (gcc, and IDE) right out of the box.
I settled on Knoppix.
Knoppix is slow to boot and start, but once I installed a swapfile on a Windows partition, things went comfortably. Also, it let me save configuration information onto the Windows partition so next time I boot, I won't have to reset everything I changed to set up my environment.
All the distributions seemed to fail mounting my boot Windows partition for some strange reason, so I used my second Windows hard disk for the swapfile and config.
Other distributions I tried:
Gentoo: No GUI, hints at development tools but none installed, scarce Internet support, doesn't find Windows disks.
Damn Small Linux: Nice, fast GUI (responsive), no development tools, good Internet support.
Mepis: sluggish ugly GUI, got slower/unusable over time, has dev tools. Gave up on it because it gets bogged down for some reason. (Maybe all I needed was a swapfile.)
MandrakeMove: somewhat nice GUI, no dev tools, has Internet support, OpenOffice.org too slow (but may just needed swapfile), showed wrong time.
Fedora: very slow to boot and login. Never got the GUI up even though it kept hitting the CD-ROM. Gave up on it.
I would've liked to have tried Lindows, but couldn't find a free download.
